Netherlands Horse Rescue and New Wire Sculpture

I was so moved by the Netherlands Horse Rescue I thought I should create some artwork that would somehow share the emotion. About 200 horses were trapped on a tiny island for days after terrible flooding. Four women rode out into the cold water and the herd followed them back to dry land! These are some sketches in glass before firing, the finished glass is too stiff in the large piece, I will continue to work with the idea.

Here is the finished wire sculpture of Comedy and Tragedy, 8" x 10" done for one of the visitors to the Ramona Studio Tour

The 3" x 4" wire sketch:

Cats and Art Glass Assn. of Southern Calif. Show

Here are the 2 cats after firing. The standing one is my donation that will be raffled off at the reception. I dropped off my entries last night and the show looks amazing! I can't wait to see it hung. This is where the "big glass" comes out! Here is the link to show information:

You will be amazed at what these artists are doing with glass if you come!

Horses, a hundred or so! Olympic inspired

I found a way to watch the olympic equestrian events online, the first time I was ever able to see as much of it as I wanted to. I find it thrilling. So began a huge herd of tiny pen horse sketches!   just counted the little sketches and that is about the number of horses I was taking care od at one time in the past!  Just to go through that size herd and look at and assess every pair of eyes, all eour legs, look at each one from head to toe and take care of all thier needs...... geeeze.... good thing I was young!

They evolved into these Winsor Newton ink painted horses, one elephant and one giraffe.

Quick gold sketches evolved into these:

Step 1, pick most defining lines from light pencil sketch draw with pilot gold marker

2 Add Shiva irridescent paintskik

3 Add gold colored pencil
